New Zealand is visiting Pakistan for a three-match One-Day International and three-match Twenty20 International series, and after that they may go to the UAE for the ICC T20 World Cup.

ISLAMABAD: New Zealand's cricket squad declined to go to Rawalpindi's stadium on Friday, due to threats, two Pakistani authorities said. "Our security personnel and Pakistani cricket team spent hours attempting to encourage the squad, but they were unable," claimed a senior intelligence official with direct knowledge of the visiting team's security situation.

Additionally, another Pakistani government source informed Reuters that the squad was not prepared to enter the stadium due to security concerns. For the first time in 18 years, New Zealand will visit Pakistan to play three one-day international players and five T20 matches in Rawalpindi and Lahore.

Just received word that the beginning of first #PAKvNZ ODI has now been postponed. Players and support personnel have been requested to remain in their hotel.

For maybe the first encounter in 18 years, the Nz cricket team travels to Pakistan. From September 17 to October 3, the Tom Latham-led team will face Pakistan in three One-Day Internationals and five Twenty20 Internationals. The three One-Day Internationals, on the other hand, will not be part of the ICC Men's Icc Cricket World Super League, but will instead be played as three 50-over matches. The following T20Is will serve as ideal warm-ups for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, which will be held in Oman and the UAE in October and November this year.

Notably, Rawalpindi will host the three One-Day Internationals on September 17, 19, and 21, respectively. The first one-day international will take held at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Friday, September 17. The game is set to begin at 3 p.m. (IST).

The Black Caps are coming off a 2-3 thrashing in their five-match T20I series against Bangladesh and will be looking to rebound against Babar Azam and Co. Due to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, many key Kiwis players will miss the Pakistan trip, although a little younger and inexperienced team will provide another test for the hosts.

Pakistan, on the other side, has rested a few players for the One-Day International series. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has selected a 20-man team for the One-Day International (ODI) series, which includes four possible debutants and will want to improve on home soil. The Men in Green lost their ODI and T20I series in England in July and will be looking to bounce back.
