Lahore, Pakistan, 9 October 2021: Due to a lower back injury, Sohaib Maqsood has now been left out from the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 and has now been changed by Shoaib Malik. Sohaib currently undergoing MRI scans for the lower back on Thursday after injuring himself during the 6 October match against Northern Punjab and missing the 7 October match against Central Punjab as a result.

"Sohaib is disappointed to have missed the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, since he had worked tirelessly to qualify and was in fine form. We sympathise for him, but injuries are a fact of life in sports. I am confident that following rehab, he will fully recover and be ready for future missions.

"In his absence, and after consulting with the team's administration, we've decided to add Shoaib Malik in the squad. I'm confident that Shoaib's expertise will benefit the entire team."
